Instead of creating a diverse Global Village, diversity is flattened out

Instead of creating a diverse Global Village, diversity is flattened out, or, at least, there is an illusion of uniformity.  This occurs, in part, when the designers of websites make a conscious decision to conform are considered to be the design and content standards of the day.  The designers and the owners of websites realize that acceptance (credibility) lies in being able to develop an interface that functions in a way that users will understand and contains information organized in familiar patterns.  Needless to say, this type of conformity is practical, but the result is that smaller entities may follow the lead of the commercially supported websites, most of which have large U.S. partnerships and presences.
